Predictive Solutions Integration with its parent company, Industrial Scientific

In January 2008, Industrial Scientific acquired Predictive Solutions, formerly known as DBO2 (Design, Build, Own, Operate). With similar cultures and a shared goal of saving lives, the two companies integrated seamlessly.

This relationship began on a beautiful Friday afternoon in 2007. Three utilities workers entered a confined space to perform routine maintenance work. In quick succession, each of the men entered the space and was overcome by lethal levels of a harmful gas. Their Industrial Scientific gas detectors, which would have alerted them to this danger, were left on the dashboard of their truck. Kent McElhattan, Industrial Scientific Founder and Chairman, then realized that providing workers with the best instruments in the world was not enough to save lives. They had to be used correctly.

To achieve the company’s vision of ending death on the job in this century, Kent set out to find a company that could measure human behavior on the job and predict where incidents were likely to occur. In his search, he found Predictive Solutions. Today, the two companies are working together to write the next chapter in safety – predicting workplace injuries.
